Professional Books delivered to the Orange Walk Ministry of Education Courtesy of Maureen Parker and her school Division.  thank you...

Attached is the photo of the books delivered to Orange Walk MOE office.  We met your contact just as we were leaving as she was at a meeting when we arrived.  RC Orange Walk has the tapes taken down and is looking into them being put on CD’s.

Deliver went smooth as Johnny, the president of the Rotary Club of Orange Walk made arrangements for one of his members to meet us when we finally arrived in Belize.  Chris Aird made arrangements for the duties and taxes to be waived on everything except the Environment tax and that we negotiated to US$10.00.  The airline would not waive the  costs to ship them as luggage so we ended up paying for the 4 boxes.

The Interact Club of Salisbury Composite High School in Sherwood Park, will be holding their 2nd Annual Red Carpet Affair. This will be a Fundraising spectacle featuring live entertainment by Brian McLeod & Livy jeanne, a silent auction and refreshments.
The event is staged to raise funds so that the members of the club can go to Punta Gorda, Belize to erect a community playground.
This event will be held in the Sherwood Park Agora, which is located in the Sherwood Park Community Center.
The Red Carpet Affair will be held on April 12th at 7PM, the tickets are a very reasonable $20.00 per person.
We hope to see as many Rotarians and there spouses, family as possible at this event, it promises to be even better than last year. I will be there and I know that I will enjoy myself, these are amazing kids and we should all support them!!

At our Executive meeting of The Rotary Club of Sherwood Park, this morning we voted to give $1,000.00 to this project. We will be sending this cheque to the District in the next week or so.
It is a great project, and I and my club hope that there will continue to be involvement by our District in Belize.
I think I told you some time ago, our club has taken on a similar project with the country island of Dominica, and we will be asking for some help from your expertise in that regard as we go forward.
Best regards,
John A Vrolijk

Over this past Spring Break, 12 members from the Centennial Interact Club in Edmonton had the opportunity to take a service trip to Belize. After some serious difficulties with United Airlines - flight cancellations, near-lost luggage, gate changes, and inaccurate information at every turn - they made it to Caye Caulker island a day late.

Yesterday was a very fulfilling day in Belize City.

Aki and I dropped off about 629 water filters at the District Office fulfilling part of a different grant which brings us one step further to finishing another grant

But the more exciting part was that we met with Jahmor and Gilford Dawson (Barry) and both of them reviewed the MOU and signed them so we now have them officially on board. We will see Noel, hopefully tomorrow as we wander over to Corozal and Ornage Walk delivering more filters. Once he signs (he has already reviewd it) Our team Consultants are in place.

This is a good team as they have all worked together and are great colleagues. They are scheduled to meet this Saturday with the District Office Coordinators .

Computing Science students at Sacred Heart College receive training from Mount Vernon University on tips and techniques for wireless connectivity...this will assist the BLP as students from the college will be upgrading our pilot schools.

We finally have our itinerary for the Belize trip sorted out.
We leave on Mar. 22nd to Caye Caulker. While there we will be visiting and tutoring Standard 1-V classes for their PSE’s, working on the construction of pillars for a new classroom space, running a sports camp, and working on their ongoing Mangrove rehabilitation project.
While in San Ignacio we will be spending almost all of our time at Eden Primary School in Santa Elena (sounds like the same one that the playground is slated for). We have sent money to pour the foundation to add on to their caretaker/security family’s house. When we are there we will be constructing the walls and spending some time in the classroom as well.
Principal Tharine Gabourel informed me that since they have had the family living on their grounds they have had virtually no vandalism at the school, which is a huge concern in Belize.
Hope this helps. Let’s keep in touch.
