Volun-travel  November 30 - December 9, 2012

Project School - Faith Nazerine School, San Ignacio, Cayo

before the work started, the group met in Caye Caulker for some R & R, sight seeing and a tour of Island led by Interactors from Ocean Academy School followed by tour and update from Founders Heidi and Joni.

Wow...we experienced first hand how Rotarians bring hope to others.  What an amazing committed group from Athabasca, Lac La Biche and Yellowknife.

Dr. Wally Cummings held 2 very full days of eye clinics and examined more than 80 children and 35 adults

A  building is being given a facelift and once transformed will become a library and learning centre...new windows, rain gutters, wall prep and plans developed.  Grounds were enhanced by plants, shrubs and bushes as well as some weeding and clean up.

Did you know...in the late 1970's Prime Minister PE Trudeau came to Belize to dive.  He was so impressed with the country he asked the Prime Minister of the day how Canada might help.  Canada provided a loan which was later forgiven for water and sewage in Belize City.  A significant donation to this country.  Rotarian Paul Hunt shared this story.  He is uncertain if Canada has every been thanked.

Tue, 12/11/2012 - 16:08

Rotarian Paul Hunt and chair Jackie Hobal met with Assistant Principals  from All Saints Primary School.  This school is led by an excellent Principal and Assistants who have a vision for improving student learning and staff performance.  This school has over 600 students and 29 teachers.  They are pressed for, space.   We discussed arrangement for integrating 25 netbook computers. These computers are for student use and tied to the curriculum.  Excited about this partnership and will appeal to District clubs to have this school adopted.  teachers will receive training from Belize City Manager Jahmor Lopez.
